Emma is nine when she gets adopted by an ok couple with a boy a year older than her. This is her sixth home in three years and Emma isn’t sure how long they will let her stay but at least the man doesn’t shoot up in the kitchen or completely ignore her and the woman doesn’t hit or scream at her so this place will do.

Summary
Shane Hollander is tired of wanting someone he cannot have, and he’s dying as he waits for someone who will not stay. Someone who doesn’t want to stay, not when there are so many others waiting for him. Fun of another variety, Shane left a treat amongst many.
It’s humiliating. It’s distracting. And it feels like shit.
He wishes he could erase his feelings, move on as easily. In an effort to gain back control over the ‘situation’ that has become his romantic attraction to a notorious player, Shane attempts at imitating Ilya Rozanov’s methods until he perfects them and becomes as good as keeping it light and casual as his rival.
Or Shane tries to Hoe Phase himself into a self discovery journey to choke and kill his feelings for Ilya Rozanov. Ilya is not the only who suffers from it, but he sure feels like he’s being choked and killed.

Ilya just looked him up and down slowly. “You do realize you’re wearing my coat right now, yes?”
Shane glanced down at the sleeves covering his knuckles. “Oh. Huh. Must have grabbed it by mistake. We have similar… builds.”
Shane Hollander does not steal.
Unfortunately, Ilya Rozanov keeps leaving jackets behind, and Shane keeps reaching for clothes that aren’t his - clothes that smell like smoke and safety.
This is not a problem. Right?
Or: Shane develops a completely reasonable coping mechanism for bad games. It just happens to involve stealing Ilya’s clothes and pretending that’s not intimacy.
