Bookmarker's Notes
And Robin is still shaking.
A strange warmth surges in Tim’s chest. It burns, but it’s so much better than the acid green. Before he knows it, Tim has a hand on Dick’s shoulder and he’s gently pulling him away from the bound man. And Zucco is still breathing.
“What…” Dick whispers.
Tim slowly unclasps the child’s fingers from the kris, and then twists around his hand to hear Dick’s pulse. Not a Shadow, Tim thinks. Not a shade. Not a wraith. Robin is a light.
Alive, alive, alive.
“You don’t want to do this, Robin,” Tim says.
“But you—but I—” Tears stream down Dick’s face. “He killed my parents. He killed my parents, Hood, he killed them, he deserves to die.”
Strangely, Tim feels alive too.
“He does,” Tim says. “But you don’t deserve—you don’t deserve to be a killer.” He sees Dick fidget with the hem of his Robin tunic, and he’s reminded how much Dick loves hugs. So, he pulls the boy close to him and wraps his arms around Dick’s shoulders. Something inside him melts and floods and washes away the Green.
Tim takes off his helmet as the tears stream down his face. He doesn’t care who sees. He just—
他只是——“You should be nice to nice people,” Tim says. “Be nice to yourself.” He holds Dick by the shoulders, kneeling down in front of him. “If you need him dead, I’ll do it. But don’t kill him. Don’t do that to yourself.”
Dick shakes his head, and for a second Tim thinks he’s going to protest and insist that Robin avenge his parents. But then, the boy whispers, “You should be nice to nice people. You’re nice people, Hood.” Slowly, Dick reaches out and helps Tim to his feet, then turns him away from Zucco.
