    Penelope’s face looms into the mirror beside his. She stretches to rest her chin on his shoulder, and wraps her arms around him. Their eyes meet in the mirror. “How long have I prayed for this night,” she says softly, and squeezes her arms around his bare waist. “To have you in my arms. Odysseus.”

    “I took so long. Penelope, I–” He doesn’t have the words. There are not enough, and nothing strong enough, and– and his tongue is tied in ribbons, as tattered as the rest of him.

    “Hush, love.”

    aka Odysseus returns home, reunites with his love, gets a bath, and starts to grieve

It honestly surprised me the first time I saw you do it, I figured that’d be the end for you.” He chuckles sadly, legs folded up beneath him where he sits on the pew next to Mordred, staring ahead at the stained-glass window that adorns the far wall, casting mosaics of light across the dusty metal floor.

    “I think you two would’ve gotten along, really. You’re so similar, I can’t imagine you two not being friends.” Mordred draws a shaky breath, shifting slightly. Oh god, oh fuck, he’s really about to do this, huh? If there’s a god, he’s pretty sure they’re sitting up in heaven and pointing at him, like a mean teenage girl.
