    Summary

Miko gets kidnapped, but it's fine, because the guy who's kidnapping her doesn't want to hurt her or anything. He just needs her help getting his husband out of jail. He'd do it himself, but he's a giant robot truck, so he can't exactly walk up to the guy at the impound lot and hand over his license and registration, and unfortunately she's the only human he knows that he doesn't think will immediately turn him over to the other giant robot trucks (and cars, and motorcycles, etc.).

    Wait, what?

She looked, as she always did, radiant, a fact he was finding particularly difficult to ignore when she was watching him with mirth instead of wariness or exasperation.

“When,” she asked, “was the last time someone asked you to dance, Master van Calox?”

A muscle in his jaw twitched. Calcazar's lingering presence was putting him on edge, making him aware of anything—everything—that could be out of place, misconstrued, but he indulged himself in the mildest of teasing. “That's classified, I'm afraid.”

She grinned up at him, green eyes sparkling like fresh leaves under spring rain. “I suppose it’s fitting that an Inquisition man wouldn’t kiss and tell.”

He raised an eyebrow. “I am more in the habit of extracting information than disseminating it, certainly.” It occurred to him belatedly that an oblique reference to his particular profession was probably not an appropriate response to flirting, at least if he wanted said flirting to continue.

Fortunately, Amberlyn was unfazed, and she clicked her tongue. “Shame, you probably have stories that could curl more than a few toes here.” She deftly picked two glasses off of a passing tray and offered one to him.

    Summary

The more Verin dug into it, the more convinced he became. Essek had spent an inordinate amount of time with the Mighty Nein when they came to Rosohna. Done all sorts of strange favors for them. Ferried them all over Wildemount. Arranged visits with prisoners in the Dungeon of Penance. Let them dig up his yard. Descended into Aeor with them, unaccompanied. Accepted invitations to dinner. Let one of them hug him. In public. More than once.

Mind control. It had to be.

Verin gets it into his head that Essek has been kidnapped by the Mighty Nein (specifically Caleb), and sets out on a solo rescue mission to Rexxentrum.

    Hijinks ensue.

“I’m going to fucking ruin you.” Flambae hissed out, heat rippling down Robert’s spine as Flambae whispered in his ear. Nope, wait, that wasn’t heat. Well, if it were one of those shitty erotica books that Coupe reads, then it would be heat, but nope. Just straight pleasure that pulses all the way down to his clit as Flambae whispered in his ear.

Wait, how the fuck did he get here?

Oh, right. Despite Prism warning him not to do it, he went to Flambae’s apartment to hopefully talk. Better to get it out of the way than have it ruin their jobs

Further works involving my icono-dogmatic Rogue Trader, Augustine von Valancius, and her relationship with Heinrix. A smattering of styles, subjects, and perspectives, including a bunch of experiments with form. Can be read in any order, though I recommend starting with "Steel your heart."
