Summary
Eddie is right there beside him, shoulder brushing Buck's, chatting with one of the women from the 113. Buck joins in the second Christopher's name comes up.
Eddie hides a smile behind a swig from his bottle and lets him take the lead — no one knows better than him how Buck gets when Chris is mentioned. So Buck talks away, nods along, pulls out his phone to show pictures of the three of them.
"Oh wow," the woman says. "That's so great. Such a sweet family. How long have you two been–?"
"We're not together!" Buck blurts out at the exact same moment Eddie says, "Eight years", earning them both a confused look.

Buddie get mistaken for a couple at Nashville games. Buck absolutely can't have that. People should stop assuming. After all, he can't be in love with his straight best friend.
The straight best friend has his own thoughts about the matter. -

Summary
“Eddie? Are you ok-” he doesn’t even manage to finish the question before Eddie drags his palms across his face in that very typical manner of his and blurts out.
“I’m gay.”
He’s not looking at Buck, eyes darting all across the room, his skin is pale and he overall looks a little… haunted.
“I’m gay and I’m in love with you.” Eddie says — or more like, mutters to himself, — pacing back and forth again, before stopping and finally facing Buck head on. “Please, don’t date anyone else.”
“Ok-ay...?” Buck answers on an instinct. “Okay.” He takes a deep breath, shaken and frozen on the spot, taking Eddie in with wide-open eyes. Okay…
Actually, no, screw that! Nothing about this is okay. It’s the least okay things have been for a while. It can’t be happening.or
Buck gets back into dating, prompting Eddie to come out, confess and propose. They argue about it. Ravi might have done it on purpose.

Summary
Castiel sits on a bench near the motel's parking lot, with that guy — Abraham — far too close to him for Dean’s comfort. They bonded instantly over their nice biblical names and, of course, the whole "Cas saving his life" thing. Son of a bitch just wouldn't leave since then. What's worse — Castiel doesn't seem to want him to, being far too comfortable in the proximity of that stranger. That guy.
*******
Or the one where Dean is forced to do the whole "talking" thing, as someone appears to threaten the shaky balance between him and Castiel.

Summary
The boyfriend looks at Eddie's arm, looks at Eddie's face, does whatever math drunk people do when they're deciding whether a fight is worth it, and somehow arrives at the correct answer. He grabs maybe-horse-Ashley by the elbow and pulls her away, muttering something about firefighters that Buck doesn't catch because he's too busy trying not to pass out.
Eddie turns around. His hand is still on Buck's chest.
"Seriously?" One eyebrow up. Not angry yet, but getting there. "We've been here an hour."
"He came at me!" Buck throws his hands up. Outraged. Innocent. An absolute victim of circumstance and nothing more. "I was just talking to her."
"You were practically on top of her."
"That's just how I talk to people, Eddie. I'm a leaner. It's my thing."
Eddie stares at him for a second. His hand drops from Buck's chest and he shakes his head, turning back to the bar.
"Get yourself a drink," Eddie says over his shoulder. "And stay out of trouble for five minutes."
He makes it roughly eleven minutes before he does something stupid again.
Or,
Buck is completely normal about Eddie shoving Blue to defend his honor. Really. He is.Series

Summary
“Eddie, I’m in love with you,” he says, heart thrumming in his chest, in his throat, in his mouth. He feels hot and cold and dizzy by turns.
“What?” asks Eddie faintly, barely even a question.
“I’m in love with you,” Buck says again. “I didn’t know, I didn’t mean to, but I am. I am.”
“You– Right, okay,” says Eddie, so visibly buffering that it makes Buck’s heart clench a little in his chest. Of course he’s in love with Eddie. How could he possibly have let himself pretend otherwise. “Wasn’t expecting this, bud,” says Eddie, and he sounds so shocked that Buck can’t help a wry smile. Of course Eddie’s surprised. They must be the only two people in existence who didn’t already know. “I– Buck, man, you know that I care about you, but…”
“I know,” he says gently to Eddie, because he did know, but that doesn't make this moment hurt any less.
---
Post season 8, Buck confesses his feelings, Eddie lets him down as gently as he can, and they both try to figure out how to be just friends.

Summary
“I’ll be right back,” Eddie says, as his eyes snap to something over Buck’s shoulder. “Stay here with Chris.”
Eddie presses a firm kiss to Buck's lips before ducking off into the crowd, and Buck watches him go with a dazed look on his face.
“You guys are kissing now?” Chris asks curiously. “I didn’t think he’d told you yet.”
That drags Buck back to reality.
“Huh?” he says. “Told me what?”
Chris raises an eyebrow. “Dad’s told you how he feels, right?”
“It’s just been the kissing actually,” Buck admits, still a little out of it. “I don’t think he’s fully aware he’s doing it?”

Summary
Dragging a hand down his face, Eddie says, “It was thirty seconds.”
“Of betrayal,” Buck says darkly.
A laugh bursts out of Eddie. “You’re–”
“I’m what?” Buck advances on him before stopping abruptly in the middle of the room. Behind him, the curry they’d been working on sizzles, oil burning. Neither of them does anything about it. “I’m right?”
“Jumping to conclusions,” Eddie grits out. He hates being cornered like this. “Like you always do.”
“Oh, okay,” Buck says, too brightly. “Same way you keep jumping through hoops to avoid saying anything you actually want to fucking say?”
Buck’s not being fair. None of this is fair. It’s not right, it’s not–
“Fuck you,” Eddie snaps.

Summary
“I want all of this, Eddie. I want a home and a family and I— maybe I can’t have it while I’m sleeping on my best friend’s couch.”
The idea of Buck finding someone else, of him going anywhere further than their living room, sat like a brick in Eddie’s gut. Was he so desperate to escape? Could he see it, written all over Eddie’s face? The shift Eddie had been pointedly not looking at since he returned to LA.
“We are your family.”
“I need to learn to—”
“If you say stand on your own two feet one more time, Buck, I swear!”
Buck heaved a sigh, put upon and irritated, “Well, what’s so wrong with that?”
“We’ve fucking been alone, Buck. Me and you, all our lives, we’ve been doing it alone. You grew up alone. I did too. You don’t need to learn how to be alone, you need to learn how to lean on the people who are offering you their shoulder.”
OR -
An 8x18 epilogue/fix-it. Buck and Eddie fight, a few truths come to light and they learn how to lean on each other again.
