Summary
In a lot of ways, Laios was like a dog.
One of those massive dogs that almost made you think warg, except they're big slobbery messes that want to be lapdogs, not violent killing machines. And the thing about dogs is that they have teeth, muscle, they often want to sit on you despite being twice your size, and they do this thing called resource guarding.
Chilchuck is Laios's picklock, and a resource worth guarding.

Summary
After his confrontation with Shuro, Laios is feeling self-conscious about his monster obsession, and wonders if his friends even like him or if they're faking and giving him signals that everyone but him can see, like Shuro was.
His friends have some things to say about that.
