Sylvain's post-last-call texts usually go to past hookups who might be open to a repeat performance, but sometimes they go to Bernie. Bernadetta treasures her solitude, which is why she lives so far from all her friends in town, way out in the mountains where the only other thing for miles is a run-down old house that's been for sale since long before Bernadetta moved out here. When someone buys that house and threatens her quiet, solitary life, she isn't sure how to feel at first; not until she meets Dimitri, who seems to value being alone as much as she does - seems to, at least, so long as she doesn't look too closely.

Summary
It was a good plan, a solid plan - Dimitri is eager to help, Sylvain is always ready to show off, Bernadetta needs a little inspiration. It's the perfect set of circumstances for getting Sylvain and Dimitri in bed together, and Bernie is sure once they cross that line they'll have to stop dancing around each other, lovesick and over-cautious. Every variable is accounted for.

The man lifts his gaze, and though they are narrowed, he discovers those dark eyes are an umber brown — warm and inviting, even when sharp with caution. He has to look away, twin flames cast to the side as if in thought. The silence stretches until the assassin grows impatient.
