Annabeth knocked firmly on the door. She crossed her arms in front of her chest, rocking back and forth on her heels, and after a moment, she heard some shuffling inside the room and the door swung wide open. A tall, skinny, boy with black hair stood in the frame, looking around very frazzled. His hand lay on top of the door frame, the other behind the door.
“Hello.” Annabeth said, getting his attention. She moved a little more in her spot, making herself seen.
“Oh. I was expecting Luke, sorry. He usually hates when we don’t turn out our lights after 11.” He took his hand off the door frame and scratched at his nose.
“About that… I’m Luke’s girlfriend and I live in Brittany Hall. Which is kind of on the other side of Manhattan. Luke won’t walk me home and y’know… We live in New York. I don’t know you, so feel free to say no, but can you walk me home?”
“For sure! come in so I can get some shoes on.” The guy stepped away from the door and let her inside. “I’m Percy, by the way.”
