Seeing his old self reflected in the hopeful-hesitant gaze of his friend has his chest tightening with discomfort. That's the same expression he himself would make, holding out his fragile heart in his palms, already half-braced for rejection. They might have more in common than they know. That'll make it hurt even more to watch what he could have been from the sidelines.But for now, he's going to continue to Not Think About It, and instead do his best to support someone aiming for the goal that Izuku no longer had the strength to pursue.

Summary
To many people, birds are synonymous with freedom.
This is true for Izuku, an inquisitive young boy who for the last 6 years was forced to train and work as a sniper with deadly aim.
He's been hurt, manipulated, and terrified.
But at 12 years old he's finally free, and with the help of the family he surrounds himself with he's ready to learn how to be a normal kid.

That's an issue and a goal that's personal to you, and you alone. You may have your own internal reasons, and this all may be more complicated than it appears, but from an outside perspective it just looks like baseless, unorganized, and, frankly, unsuccessful destruction. Where Stain is starting a conversation about a greater issue, you seem to just be breaking things for the sake of it. People don't know why you're doing this. What your goal is beyond the one task you've named. If you made it clear that you were looking to enact some sort of societal change, that would set you apart from the other... um... criminally-inclined individuals that you've been lumped in with. If you're asking for an outside perspective, there must be more going on. But you haven't proven it to the world yet."
So that's it then. Purpose and image. Tomura thinks he can work with that.
