Five years later, Clark returned empty-handed, but his life had already went through a significant transformation. Upon returning to the Daily Planet, he took on a job commission from Lois to alleviate financial pressure and start a new life. Meanwhile, Bruce—waiting on Earth for five years, believing the past dispute with Clark was inconsequential—finally realised that he seemed to have missed the opportunity in this "broken" relationship.
"I've broken up with my boyfriend!" Clark said to the camera.
