It's almost always impossible to fully decipher truth from fiction in folklore, but Opal knows for certain that this story isn't quite accurate.

To the public, a group of vigilante's has come to get justice for the people of Greater Hyrule. Mysterious heroes doing the wrong thing for the right reason. To the criminal underground there are rumors that the boogeyman has a family.
