Set during the Golden Age, after the Midland-Chuder War and knighting ceremony that promoted the Hawks to the White Phoenix Army. In this canon divergent setting, Guts never left the band but there are still problems with the aftermath of the war.
Guts and Griffith are required to be sent with a Midland escort wherever they go and have become unrecognizable to the desolate people of the countryside who do not care for the victories of war heros, only how they can survive another day.
