    And with that the Patriarch is gone and Lan Wangji is alone on the hill. He looks out at the expanse before him, the shimmering vision of the castle, and over at the clock, already steadily dripping his time away. He grips his sword tight and strides down the hill toward the great gates of the labyrinth.
