Well, he could also kill them all and take his wife from the top of a hill of corpses…but that hardly needed being said. Besides, he was fairly certain that option wouldn’t endear him to his runaway bride. For this to be clean, he needed a fair exchange to occur.
He could see her starting to panic, her eyes darting around the corners of the small, stark room as she searched for an answer. She knew as well as Kylo did that the Resistance would do a lot to get Leia Organa back. Even sacrifice one of their own.

After the disastrous Scipio Olympics in 2018, Ben Solo is forced to step away from hockey, disgraced and injured. And Rey Palpatine, the world champion figure Skater from the UK, leaves with fourth place. Still an incredible feat but her grandfather paid for a gold medal and won’t tolerate mediocrity.
Both are deeply affected by what happened in Scipio and committed to hiding for as long as they can. But when Maz Kanata and Luke Skywalker come up with the idea of making them a skating pair, the concept is too enticing not to try. However, the less-than-ideal introduction reveals that perhaps the duo is already acquainted.
So it's probably hopeless. Probably.

You see– Clarke, by all means, shouldn’t exist. Everyone in her family, for as far back as they can trace, has been either an Alpha or an Omega. Never has a mere Beta sprouted on their family tree. Her Uncle Russell even insisted on a paternity test when she turned eighteen and still hadn’t presented as either, much to Abby’s unending embarrassment. All of them go on and on about it. How dare she spit on their pedigree like this!
Of course that embarrassment is Clarke's fault, it's her personal defect that keeps her from presenting.
