- "Hey, throw that away," - a quick hand pulled the cigarette right out of her mouth. - "You'll die early."
- "So you can kill people, but I can't even smoke a cigarette?" - the girl rolled her red eyes, stunned by this man's logic. - "Don't act like my..." - her words trailed off mid-sentence, and she simply put a lollipop into her mouth and turned away, not bothering to argue with him.
Stanley threw her half-smoked cigarette into the trash can, casting a threatening glance at the guy who had been standing next to her and shared the cigarette with her. With a look of fear on his face, the guy ran off.
- "Besides, I won't live long enough for lung cancer to become a problem for me," - Senku said disinterestedly, watching the cars passing by on the highway.
- "As long as you're with me, you will," - he tossed out emotionlessly, grabbing her hand. Senku stared at his back in surprise, stunned by his sudden words, barely keeping up with his rapid steps. - "Focus. The real training is about to begin."
- "...Okay, Stanley."

- We're being shot at!
In the turmoil, no one noticed the deafening smack overboard, masked by the roar of an engine and a machine-gun burst.
“Damn!” - thought Senku, finding himself in the cold water. Too distracted by his worst fears, he didn't have time to grab onto anything when Ryusui abruptly added speed.
Climbing out of the water, Senku quickly tried to take cover in the grass thickets. It wasn't exactly inconspicuous, but he hoped that in the heat of the chase the adversary wouldn't notice the slight rippling of the coastal grasses.
The sound of the engine could still be heard echoing in the distance, but no machine gun fire could be heard.
That meant either that the attackers had fallen behind and lost sight of them, or...
...they switched to another target.
It was quiet, but he knew where this could be going.
And if he wasn't going to lose his life right this moment, then that meant the enemy needed a very specific thing.
Information. From their point of view, he had nothing more valuable than that.
If that's true, he's not gonna die that easily. At least not right away.
However...
- Freeze.
Well, Gen had always said his luck was low.

The click of low heels echoed in the deserted room, filling the lonely space with the presence of life. Each step caused a ripple, small waves running through his heart. He remembered the sound of old, worn-out props being dismantled piece by piece and the parts being reassembled into devices of striking ingenuity, the clatter of tools moved by her small hands, accompanied the quiet sound of her breathing, which was like a symphony to his ears.
He loved this and only this sound, the one that had the right to disturb his peace.
He loved to look at her endlessly, to desire her endlessly, and most of all, he loved...
- “Sing for me, Senku”.
The aria flowed, rising, soaring upward, as if trying to break free. She took a step. He took a step. Smoothly, with a movement honed to perfection, as if with a flap of wings, she brought her hands to her chest. His arms, holding her, closed around her, enclosing her in his embrace. The touch of the mask against her bare neck was cold, but his breath was too hot. She shuddered subconsciously, but the song sounded flawless.
Unacceptably close.

The metal tips on his fingers, like claws, slowly traced across the mirrored surface, as if trying to break through the veil that separated them.
He had waited long enough, and the reward should have been a thousand times more satisfying than this long, maddening wait.
Xeno felt almost sorry for the fate of his beloved student, who was trapped. It was a great pity that he was the one who held the key to this cage.
Ah, Senku, you have nowhere to run.
The man smirked, narrowing his black eyes and leaving, the room became empty and endlessly dark again.
Suddenly, the window in the tower made a quiet creak, letting in a light breeze of night air. With it, two figures silently slipped inside, quickly darting in.
Senku looked up at this man and woman, the first people he had seen in months of imprisonment here, apart from the two.
What was a pity, Xeno: he was lucky this time.
