A small smile touches Yoichi’s mouth, almost shy at the corner. “You say it like that’s a bad trade.”
A laugh slips out of Alexis before he can catch it. It stays quiet, disbelieving, and it warms his breath on the way out. “You think you’re simple,” he murmurs. “But you’re not.”
“Maybe that’s the problem,” Yoichi says. “I wish I were.”
