    Summary

“A man’s gotta fight temptation / Keep the wolves from the door.”

Clark Kent has been keeping the wolves from the door for thirty-four years.

He is very good at it. He has built a door out of press badges and notebooks and the plain declarative sentences of his instrument, and he holds it shut every day with both hands: against the corrupt senators and the rigged votes and the systems that look where they are pointed and the specific, ongoing, daily temptation to simply fix things. To simply be what he is. To make people do the right thing, because he can.

Then Bruce Wayne says hold, and Clark holds, and Lucas Clemens goes to Rikers Island for a crime he did not commit, and the wolves scratch at the door.

    They scratch every night.

    Clark counts the beats.

Wolves from the Door is a five-chapter character study about power, restraint, and what it costs to be Clark Kent. Featuring: a wrongful conviction, one man’s deeply inconvenient conscience, the specific warmth of Bruce Wayne’s thirty-eight beats per minute, and the question Clark has been asking himself for thirty-four years—
    Where is the line?

    Bookmarker's Notes

I love how,, somber yet calm It all is. Clark is the strongest thing alive, he chose to be kind, to be a protector. He chose to hold the door as the parts of him that cracked under the wolves claws hold, he chose to understand that the wolves are not the enemy just a part of him.

It feels like a morning fog in a forest thicket, Its bright yet the fog obscures and yet the forest is calm. The birds still cry the forest is alive. Its just fog changing the familiar. Maybe there's something scary about that, maybe it feels calming, obscuring and hidden.

I love how I can feel the dirt and the grass in your work, its grounding. Lucas, Eleanor. People living their lives, the human in the superhuman. And Clark may be something more, but at the end of the day He is a person who cares too much.

    Summary

Clark admires Batman, the man who has given up civilian life to protect everyone else's, the tough, sharp, and compassionate man. Bruce admires Superman, the alien who, despite being able to dominate them all by force, has decided to take care of a planet that isn't his own.
And, even with these two flawed principles, neither of them can imagine how alone the other feels... and how alone they themselves are.

This is a long story, the superbat fanfic I've always wanted to write about how, within the canon, one day something changes and they find each other.

    Summary

Instead of lunging at him, the monster stumbled, as it tried to stand, and Clark saw as a child's leg slipped out of a big black boot before tangling in a yellow belt, small, very childish hands trying and failing to catch it. And maybe… And maybe it wasn't a monster at all, because as Clark watched, transfixed, the kid - because it had to be a kid, he didn't seem to be older than Clark- face planted on the floor without making even a single noise.

    _______

Or; a magical mishap accidently turns the World's Finest into an 8 and a 9 year old. Shenanigans ensue.

I FEEL VERY FERAL WITH HOW ADORABLE SUPERBAT IS AS A CHILD AND AS AEMOTIONALY CONSTIPATED ADULTS WHO BRAINED TO IDEA TO PROPOSE AT THE SAME TIME.
