Summary
He's is in the water before he can even process the need to dive after Sonic. While the hybrid’s eyes have better darkvision than a regular hedgehog, the burn of saltwater as he scans for Sonic is starting to make the effort seem futile before he’s even really begun. Shadow starts to spiral downward, his heart sinking as fast as he is in the dark waters, the strong current, the crashing waves above him.
No. He can’t be gone already, can he? Did he really do all of this to fail? Failure wasn’t an option. It isn’t an option. He closes his eyes to ground himself. When suddenly, the space around him lacks the crushing pressure of the ocean. The cold of the water.
When he opens his eyes, he’s standing in the surf shop again.

It started small, an odd interaction at the cafe he worked at, but then he felt them. The eyes watching him, devouring every move he made, demanding that he look their way. Someone was preying on him. Stalking him.
A normal person would have been unnerved, but Shadow knew how to handle a predator. If they saw him as prey, he could play the part and force them to let their guard down. They wouldn't even know until he sank his teeth in for the kill.Or
Someone is stalking Shadow, but he refuses to let them intimidate them. Instead, he finds himself enjoying the thrill of being hunted. Of using the predator stalking him for his own sick pleasures.
