“Bullshit,” Hayden responds. “You never have plans.”
Objectively, this used to be true. Nowadays Shane has many, many plans, between his nightly plans to look at Ilya’s penis through Skype and his various long-term plans laid out helpfully in his notebook, Canva (For Ilya’s sake. He is a visual learner), and more recently, Excel. Shane loves that excel sheet. He’s colour coded it.
In 2017, Shane Hollander spirals and proposes to his boyfriend of 4 days (or 7 years, or 9 years, or not his boyfriend at all, depending on how you look at it), which leads to a lot of plans, weird theories in the Montreal Voyageur locker room, some Twitter drama, and Ilya Rozanov entering his WAG era.

“Marley.” Ilya says evenly, suddenly knowing he can actually breathe. He had a plan and he knew what he needed to do. And he couldn’t do it from the locker room bench. “If he is very injured, if he cannot play again, if he is very bad, I will kill you. I will kill you painfully.”
Cliff gapes at him.In which the hit that Cliff Marleau had on Shane Hollander goes a little different. For one, they’re in Boston. For another, Ilya realizes he might be panicking? Which is probably not something to do in the middle of a game. And, oh yeah, he just outed both himself and his not-boyfriend to an entire locker room of hockey players.
But that’s okay, because while Boston may be vicious, they do take care of their own. And they quickly realize that their captain’s happiness and willingness to stay with the Bears is tied to Shane Hollander. The solution is easy, they’ll just have to make Shane Hollander a Bear.

Summary
Shane Hollander is a rising star in the NHL. He has a spotless public image, and a baffling habit of killing people—mostly by accident. Allegedly. Juggling professional hockey and an ever-growing body count is hard enough, but it gets trickier when Shane realizes he’s not the league’s only homicidal overachiever.
As the bodies pile up, Shane keeps tripping over other players who also seem to treat murder as a hobby between road games. Are they rivals? Colleagues? Is there a locker-room code for serial killers, or at least a group chat?
And then there’s Ilya Rozanov, Shane’s biggest rival on the ice. Ilya is infuriatingly competent and everything Shane despises. It’s puzzling why Shane keeps ending up naked with him, but Shane is fairly sure it’s just a case of temporary insanity that will stop any day now. Him catching feelings for Ilya? Absurd. Also, statistically speaking, the odds that Ilya is also a killer are unnervingly high.
