Summary
Set after “it was enchanting to meet you” - Peter is avoiding Erik in light of recent events.
He told himself it was inevitable. Peter’s embarrassment was understandable. Being reduced to a toddler had been violation enough; having his secret dragged into the light alongside it was worse. Erik was not entitled to anything more than silence. Whatever comfort had passed between them during those strange, impossible days belonged to another version of Peter entirely. A version who no longer existed.
Erik half-expected the distance to last months.
It lasted four days.

“The stove is too hot,” Erik warned, just like he had the past twelve times.
“I was just trying to cook them fast,” Peter defended himself with a shrug.
Using his powers to turn the stove off, Erik said, “‘Cooking’ is a generous term for what’s conspired in this kitchen.”
