Summary
Missing Chris is less of an emotion these days and more of a physical entity. He’s sure everyone can see that he’s slowly hollowing himself out, that he can’t do much of anything else.
But when Jee laughs at him trying to get his tongue to touch his nose, and Mara loops one of her arms through his to keep him from tossing the rest of his cup in the garbage, Eddie feels solid again.
Maybe he likes yellow birthday cake ice cream after all.
(or, gerrard messes with the team's schedules and eddie 'i just drove my son to flee the state' diaz is the only option to watch mara and jee-yun after school on tuesdays, which, shouldn't be a problem at all, right?)

Summary
Buck isn’t a firefighter, he just plays one on TV, or at least that’s what he’s about to do. He’s offered the chance to shadow the 118 to learn what it’s like to be a firefighter. Eddie is fed up with these Hollywood types turning up and feigning interest in the job that he loves. Buck, however, is nothing like that and everyone can see the connection they have.

Summary
"Why are we at the cheese aisle?" Eddie asked from behind Buck, like it wasn't obvious.
Buck turned on his heel and delivered a puzzled look to his best friend. "Because kids like cheese, Eddie."
Eddie stared at him like he'd lost his mind, and let go of their grocery cart to gesture at the huge array of junk food it held. "What kind of weird kid goes to a party and wants the cheese?"
"Oh," Buck said, feeling a bit deflated. "That's what I always ate first. But I was kind of a weird kid, I guess."
Dark brown eyes shot him an indecipherable look, strong fingers combed through even darker hair, and then Eddie was dropping random selections of cheese into the cart. "Well, we don't want the weird kids to have a bad time. It's a party."
Buck couldn't help the smile that beamed out of him. Eddie's so kind to kids. "Um... anything left to get?"
"Snacks for that girl who has diabetes. Amy, Audrey, uh..."
"Abby."
"Pfff... I'd remember if she was called Abby," Buck half-heard Eddie say, but his focus was on the other end of the grocery store aisle, where at 11pm at night his ex-girlfriend Abby Clark was carefully assessing two different brands of provolone.

Summary
Eddie feels his life is a mess, with struggling to adjust to civilian life, being woefully out of touch with his team and the struggles of single-fatherhood. The little stability he has gets upturned when he mistakes famous Lonestar actor, Evan Buckley as an adrenaline junkie at the scene of an accident.
Suddenly, Eddie is unable to escape the Lonestar fans, but eventually finds an outlet with his journey into fandomhood. This would be a great way to cope with his PTSD if Evan Buckley didn't keep showing up in his life, making his journey into fandom a little more complicated.
A love letter to the 911 fandom.
