Alfred reaches out, grasping Thomas’ forearm. He squeezes until Thomas’ eyes return to the present. “I’m here."
Thomas’ answering smile is a night sky, devoid of stars but all the more brilliant for it.
“I know.” Then: “I need you to be.”

Then she notices how much he looks like Danny. How much he sounds like him. How similar their mannerisms are, and their habits, and their sense of humor.
Unfortunately, she still manages to come to some slightly wrong conclusions.
