Sam, rolled his eyes at him before looking to Steve. "He's looking for what killed mom."
Steve paused his stirring again, looking back to the pan, taking a rattling breath in. Joyce wanted to help him out but she wasn't sure how to diffuse a situation like this. Or honestly what was even going on. "I needed you here. Both of you." His voice was almost a whisper, shoulders tensed by his ears like he was waiting for them to keep yelling.

His eyes snapped open to see the mall parking lot, foot still down on the gas pedal and their car almost directly in line with Billy Mayfield's Camero that was gunning straight for Nancy?!-
Steve watched as his car crumpled the Camero just feet away from where it was going to hit Nancy and the kids, sending the two cars spiraling with burned rubber against the tar of the parking lot.
He felt his body jerk at the impact, a distant awareness of Robin screaming, his head slamming forward and hitting the steering wheel-

It's not *Tim's* fault Batman slept with his mom sixteen years ago, or Tim's fault that Bruce Wayne regrets signing away his parental rights fifteen years ago, but Jack Drake sure thinks it is. Now Damian is bugging him about cows and family and Jason and Dick won't stop kidnapping him and Bruce is acting like court orders don't matter, like he doesn't have a huge bat-shaped secret to protect from literally the whole freaking world.
Why is Tim the only functioning adult in this situation?
This was supposed to be coated in angst, but it fell in the fluff bucket instead. (So, update, some people are saying this may not be as fluffy as I am advertising it. I plead the 5th.)

In freshman year of high school, Danny pulled away from his friends without explanation.
At sixteen, he disappeared. Sam and Tucker presumed him dead. His parents insisted he was taken by ghosts.
As young adults, they run into him in Gotham, of all places. It's a stroke of luck that brings their best friend back to them.
If only it was that easy for the Bats to find the god damn engineer that's been running circles around them while they try to track him down.
Tim's not sure what he'll do first when he finally finds the brilliant bastard - kiss him or punch his teeth in.

Summary
It's not that Danny hasn't known for a while now, that he's adopted. It's just that he's never known what exactly to do with that information. It definitely wasn't his idea to find out who his biological parents were as an "in case of emergency" back up plan. Sure he couldn't ever tell his mom and dad about his half ghost status, but after living with this secret for a whole year his lies simply feel like a second skin. After all it wasn't like going to live with strangers would change anything. He'd still have to hide half of who he was... right?
These facts didn't stop Sam, Tucker and Jazz from coming up with their contingency plan, doing the necessary research and prepping for whatever he might need.
It's a good thing they did too. When the GIW quarantine an Amity Park that is still stuck half in and half out of the ghost zone Danny's hand is forced into an escape. But he doesn't show up in Gotham in the best shape.
If only his problems hadn't followed him here, and in such unexpected ways, compounded by the chaos that the curse of Gotham, before Danny can help fix the problems that he helped to create yet again, he'll have to learn how to trust in his new family.
