Estranged faces walked through Leblanc’s door, all talking about things that Ren didn’t understand, yet felt familiar with. Water lightly bubbled up in glass containers on the counter as it boiled, the calming sound so distant.
“Our blood-stained hands… Our rivalry… Our unlikely alliance… I should’ve known it would end up like this.”
He gently laughed, a broken note seeping through, a desperation for something that felt starkly lost. Lost to time, lost permanently.
