Summary
In this rip in the universe, it was Christmas time. Derek sat on the train, not exactly sure how he got here. He had heard rumours about the Polar Express, but he was pretty sure it was for children- he didn’t think 24 constituted as a child, but he wasn’t in any position to argue. Beside him, Stiles bounced in his seat, also probably too old but seemingly uncaring.

The thing is, they are that comfortable around each other. It’s nothing for them to hover close, a lingering touch pressed too long, a hand clasped on a shoulder or a thigh. Drifting eyes and smirks at being caught, shrugs when Ava throws them curious stares, then laughing like it’s some sort of private joke. He likes it, likes when he knows Luke’s looking, that he’s got his back, that he’ll be there.

And, obviously, Stiles doesn't make the drive back to Beacon Hills at every available opportunity, to the detriment of his academic career, because he's secretly in love with the guy. That would be ridiculous.

Stiles was just a transparent bag of reset bones. Fused with fear and sorrow and so much sin, glued up all wrong and held together with tears and snot and guilt and shame—and an ancient, evil-tainted love; a love possessed.
Until he wasn't. Until there were hints of a new kind of love shimmering around the edges of their lives. Something quiet. Something lighter.
