How peculiar a species, that so closely resembles the other in shape and mannerisms, can exist with such different energy-processing systems.
Humans are adaptable. Aggressively so. Disturbingly so. They claw with a need to endure for as long as their pitiful lifespan allows them. Cybertronians may have their slow pulsing Sparks, but a human soul is like a flickering flame.
Undeniably, humans do an excellent job of scorching the world around them as they live. As they survive. As they burn, and burn, and burn. -

Based on Keferon’s AU on Tumblr, Mecha Pilot Jazz AU extended.
What happens when the company Jazz worked for decided his tech was actually valuable? His data invaluable to their efforts?
Well, they find those who they feel they can spare; older pilots, pilots without families, and some they simply don’t like and give them a mission towards certain death.
Their mission is simple, recover the data and send back what they find out about the enemy.

Ulchtar is an aerospace engineer working under MECHA, the world's largest anti-alien defense corporation. (If you asked him, he'd even say he's their *finest* aerospace engineer.) He's led their space program since its inception. But his career takes a nosedive after Jazz, one of their best mech pilots, vanishes during MECHA's very first space mission, and his boss decides his talents are no longer necessary.
If he's going to survive, he'll need a lot of help. And if that help comes in the form of a giant robot from space that predates human civilization, who the hell is he to complain?

The mech blinks at him and scowls. Which, wow, okay, it has a face. Mouth, eyes, a nose—the works. Well, one of the eyes isn’t lit up, but still. It can blink! Jazz couldn’t even get the clearance to have Bebop’s visor display emojis, and not for the lack of trying. Meanwhile, this guy gets a whole, expressive face and—holy shit, are those teeth?

The Allspark was destroyed. Their world is dead. And Primus has sent His last Prime back to the beginning.
Optimus Prime arrives in the Pre-Golden Age, an era where the tribes are the only law and the "High Library" is just a room carved into a mountain summit. He is a ghost from a future graveyard, his utilitarian frame a haunting contrast to the ornate, tribal beauty of the ancients.
Plagued by trauma and the shadow of Sentinel Prime, Optimus must deprogram his war-torn spark and learn to live. Between the nursery rugs, the ancient archives and familiar old young faces Optimus meets the "First Primes"—mecha like Titania, who lead through quiet protection rather than conquest. As he heals under the optics of a young Alpha Trion, Optimus must face the ultimate question: Did Primus send him here to save the past, or simply to learn how to live again?

Primus sends Optimus Prime back in time just as the Allspark is destroyed in Mission city. He sent him to a time well before the first cities of Cybertron were even a concept in the first builders minds. Where cybertronians don't transform but live among the land, they hunt and trade and follow traditions that have been forgotten entirely.
