Summary
Y/n is the new student housed with the Demon Brothers. Both Y/n and Lucifer, unbeknownst to one another, suffer greatly from night terrors.
Y/n struggles with learning any response other than ‘fight’ (fight or flight). More than anything, she longs to be able to let go, to relinquish command of her own life. But she can’t. There is no safety, no trust outside of herself. Her life of endless fighting holds her down, keeps her prisoner, memories flashing over her.
Lucifer, eldest of the Demon Brothers and most senior in position, looks up at Y/n from the shadows of Demon-kind, her human light radiating from behind her like the sun. In his dreams, he reaches his arms up, gloved hands trying to grasp at the light, but she just looks down at him as he falls back down from Heaven, his life of endless fighting flashing before his eyes.
Lucifer knows that to tie oneself to a Demon is to lose any chance at making it to Heaven, is to be banished just as he had been banished. The bond between Lucifer and Y/n grows ever stronger, pulling them closer together, and Lucifer strains against it, determined not to let his feelings towards her ruin her.
