    “I just realised,” Sam says, and she thinks he might be lying. “I guess I was too busy to give it much thought at the time, but do you know who wasn’t in Dean’s heaven? Dad.”
    “That can’t be true,” Mary crosses her arms. “Dean and John were always…”
    “I know, it’s weird isn’t it?” Sam says. He’s toying with his bottle, rolling it from hand to hand. She notices it but she doesn’t know what it means, not the way John probably did. Not the way Dean would. “And they spent so much time together too, you’d think some of it must’ve been happy. But I guess that’s Dean and dad in a nutshell: normal enough on the surface, but scratch that away and all you find are secrets.”

     

    Ressurected (again) in a clumsy attempt at divine redemption (again) and stuck in the happily ever after part of the story, Mary does her best to cope with the motherhood she can never quite remember wanting. But Dean won’t stop screaming in his sleep, and Jack won’t stop trying to fix him and there’s a storm in the distance that won’t stop brewing.
    It'll probably all be fine.
