“Joker,” Jason whispered, voice cracking. “Please, there’s no time, we have to hurry.”
“Jason, listen. The Joker didn’t lock you up. I did.”
Jason knew that putting a years-long killing spree on hold, even temporarily, would be one of the hardest things he'd ever done. He knew it would take every bit of strength he'd amassed since he first dug his way out of his grave. He'd known that. He'd been ready for that.
But losing Roy, losing his best friend in the process? That wasn't supposed to be part of the deal.
(A deleted scene set between chapters 14 and 15 of my longfic You Wouldn't Even Recognize Me Anymore, which you probably don't need to read to enjoy this fic, but it'd be much sexier if you did.)

Summary
Summary: Set during S2. To help Matty repay a favor to the CIA, Jack and Mac head to Russia, but are taken captive during the op and things go downhill from there. An experimental drug, a case of amnesia, and the unexpected return of an old friend become a recipe for pain as Jack fights to save Mac—from both the Russian mob and his own damaged memories.
