Summary
November 6th is the anniversary of a couple of the worst days in both Mike and Will's lives. So it only makes sense that they survive that date every year together. But as the years go by Mike is finding it more and more difficult to hide that he is secretly in love with Will. And to make matters worse, he's just discovered that there are people reading the books he wrote inspired by their lives that believe the characters based on him and Will are in love.

“I am Sir Michael the Brave, sworn protector of this realm and—” His helmet gets tangled in his hair as he tries to dramatically take it off and Will giggles. “—Shit uh. Hold on. Gimme a moment. Stupid fucking helmet,” he mumbles under his breath.
“Huzzah!” Mike exclaims when he finally frees his curls from the durable metal. The helmet promptly slips from his hands and clatters loudly onto the hardwood floor.
They both stare at it as they try to remain composed.
Mike clears his throat and straightens, procuring a plush bouquet of roses from behind his back. “As I was proclaiming before I was so rudely attacked by my own armor— I, Sir Michael the Brave, have vanquished all foes, slain every monster and man who dare lay their eyes on my liege, and decorated this sacred dwelling in honor of the Feast of Saint Valentine.”
Or: Mike—the absolute horny dork that it is—concocts a “brilliant” plan to woo Will on their first Valentine’s Day together. Cut to: Mike dressing up at a knight, Mike’s unhealthy obsession with The Painting®, Will’s glorious ass, and shameless sex fueled by classic, blissful love.

Summary
(Updated Summary)
It feels like flying too close to the sun. There has to be a point where Mike realizes what’s going on and stops it. Where he realizes that everything is teetering on the edge of being wrong, too far, inexcusable. What will the final straw be? What is the thing that Will gives in to, far too heartily, with enthusiasm that doesn’t seem platonic anymore.
Will it be something instinct based? A moment where Will can’t stand the way his scent clings to his clothing or how everything blooms when Mike stretches his neck for the fiftieth time in an hour? Or is it just one of those moments where he crouches down and looks up at him despite being several inches taller, that makes Will snap and say something – or worse – do something.
Would Mike be disgusted? Perturbed? Uncomfortable? Would he pretend it's not a big deal and simply pull away slowly? That one would hurt the most.
And then Will remembers El, and his thinking breaks down ever further.
Mike has a girlfriend. It would be stupid. It would be counterproductive. It would be reckless and mean and wrong. Ultimately wrong.

Holy shit, Will thinks. Holy shit, that’s Mike Wheeler.

Carlton loves his boyfriend. He does so, so much. To degrees that his friends have sometimes called ‘unhealthy’, though none of them have ever been with anyone as pretty or as intelligent and fascinating as his Will.
Every long term relationship needs to spice things up every once in a while, right?
