Summary
This will be an AU of season 3 - a slow burn mystery with cannon in the background - plenty of drama and relationship angst as Chloe and Lucifer navigate, re: avoid, the actual reason their relationship is so unsteady lately.
In the midst of Lucifer's returning wings, returned without reason or consent, he is left scrambling under the weight they bring. Once again he is a pawn in his fathers game.
His attempt to forge forward despite the uncertainty and finally speak to Chloe about everything comes to nothing. Even worse, they're fighting and he has no idea on how to fix it. Their relationship is suffering, and he fears the tentative hold on the friendship is faltering. He feels as if he's run out of chances with her and that thought terrifies him.
While trying to navigate just who slapped the wings on his back, a very unexpected complication lands in the middle of an already convoluted situation.
A child of all things, who is definitely more then she seems.

When Chloe awoke, the first thing she saw was Morningstar’s face. He looked relieved. “Well, look who’s back,” he said, with a warm smile.
Chloe smiled back at him. He’d saved her life. She didn’t know much about this infuriating and intriguing man who’d decided to tag along with her as she investigated the murder of Delilah, but she knew he’d saved her life.
It was good to be alive, even if it hurt. She groaned. It hurt a lot! And she felt so weak! Still, she was alive. That was a pleasant surprise.
“How long have I been out?” she asked.
Morningstar sighed a deep sigh. “Three years,” he said in a somber voice.What if Lucifer had been telling the truth?
