Cecil feels his stomach clench in apprehension as he looks at the Mark through grainy security footage. Hands behind his head and expression perfectly calm surrounded by reanimen.
No yelling, no cocky smirk, no crazy eyes.
There's also none of the anxiety or anger or any of the complicated array of emotions that Cecil is used to seeing on those features. Just the sort of calm confidence that stems from the complete and utter certainty that he’s the strongest person in the room. Cecil is intimately familiar with that look, since he used to see it all the time.
On Nolan’s face.
Or: MasklessMark isn't evil and he wants to stay. Complicated, heart-wrenching, and sometimes funny things result from this choice.

Peter rips off said mask. "Why are we all girls?!" he screeches high pitched and breaking at the end but that's really no different from his usual.
"That's the question of the hour." A deep, seductive voice says in his ear and Peter jumps to the ceiling in shock. No one can sneak up on him like that unless —
"Miss… Romanoff?" Peter looks down at the handsome, long haired man with the lovely heartshaped face and the Black Widow smiles serenely up at him.

He really should have expected something like this. How many days — weeks? — has it been since he got here? Really, it's impressive Ra's has managed to keep his hands to himself this long.
Tim doesn't so much hear him coming as sense a disturbance in the force. 'Something is off', his overwrought nervous system tells him just before Ra's large, warm hand grips the back of his neck.

And where did all those altruistic choices land her?

"You think you're hallucinating or something? That's cute, but your pathetic human mind could never come up with how awesome my mortal form is. I mean look at me. Hey, open your eyes, dipshit, look at me. You stare at me all the time, what's the difference now? I'm just, like, compressed and humanoid."
Shota tries, he really does, but the hallucination is just… too much. Too bright, too beautiful, too loud.
"Do you think you could… " God, he's talking to his hallucination. "Be less bright?"

Tim wakes up inexplicably in his two-year-old body. Which: odd. But just think, how many people would kill to have an opportunity to redo their life! And Tim has so much he wants to change, so much he wants. He wants to feel important to Bruce. He wants to be Dick's favorite. He wants Jason (his childhood hero) to think he's cool. He wants Damian to need him. And really, is it manipulation if his family benefits from it?
Or: He was halfway through the second trash can, when a startled “Good lord” caught him off guard. Tim glanced up, the rhythmic sucking of his pacifier coming to a still at the sight of a black Rolls Royce idling at the side road that lead to Wayne Manor. Alfred was staring at him from the over the car top, aghast. “Master Bruce, it’s not a raccoon.”
From the back seat, Bruce Wayne stared at him. Tim stared back.

Jason was sick of people telling him how he felt. ‘You don’t need us anymore,’ Artemis had told him, as if saying it would make it true. As if Jason needed someone to justify keeping them around. But three weeks back in Gotham and all Jason felt was fucking bored and lonely.
It was a relief, then, when some random New Yorker was thrown into his living room through a portal straight out of some LSD daydream.

“What do you mean?“ she demands. “You only have a small amount of time left! Why would you stop now?”
“I don’t know,” Kate murmurs, and Yelena is bewildered to hear a faint echo in her own emptiness, coming from nearly six thousand kilometers away. “I just don’t really know what to do now, I guess. Clint says I’m the new Hawkeye, but that’s not official or anything. And even when it is, it’s going to be a lot of training. So I’m waiting to wait, or something, and — and I don’t know why I’m talking to you about this, actually.”
“Sometimes, it’s nice to just talk,” Yelena thinks and then says. “But I don’t think you should drop out of school, Kate Bishop. School is cool.”

Summary
The storm is still two hours off according to JARVIS, but at this point, the team can’t communicate clearly over the roaring wind and they run the risk of injuring themselves or getting themselves killed if they can’t coordinate their rescue efforts. They’ll go back to the Tower, dry off, eat a hearty meal, and rest until the storm passes and they can resume their efforts.
Steve wonders how things have been for Clint, trying to manage Kate’s desire to launch herself into the storm with her teeth bared on the one hand and Jigsaw’s renewed fame in the midst of the evacuated crowds on the second and third floors on the other hand.
It’s an interesting time to be an Avenger, but when hasn’t that been the case?
(Or: The one where Hurricane Sandy is in full swing, Thor returns, and Jigsaw must face the consequences of having been recognized as Bucky. The therapy continues, the relationships heat up, and the found family grows. A direct sequel to Stitch Me Up.)
