Somehow he needs to find a way to keep "his" army busy. One that does not involve invading hell and slaughtering everything that moves.Or: Abel pointing out armies serve more than one purpose, and it's not just "killing stuff"

He needed to make amends to Val, show him he was ready to be a better partner, and that he could be trusted to invest in them, and the Vee's again.
