Beomgyu paused. “No.”
Kai shook his head, too, but then Yeonjun spoke. “Like, when an alpha thinks that an omega is their mate?”
Taehyun pressed his lips together grimly. “For all intents and purposes, they are. Their inner alpha responds the exact same way they would to a mate, feels the same level of bonding and connection. Soobin hyung has always been a little bit… different about you, hasn’t he?”
“Ghost matings are really rare, though,” Yeonjun said.
“I’m just saying that might explain what happened tonight,” Taehyun replied.
“That doesn’t explain shit!” Beomgyu exclaimed, clearly worked up again. “Soobin has a gigantic crush on Yeonjun hyung, so what!? I figured that out years ago–“
“Hang on, hyung,” Taehyun interrupted, putting a gentle hand on Beomgyu’s shoulder. “Just listen. Ghost matings are all internal, right? So when the inner alpha realizes that the connection isn’t reflected externally, it causes a lot of distress. Sometimes that can show itself as the urge to…” Taehyun trailed off, and goosebumps rose on the back of Yeonjun’s neck when they made eye contact. “You know. Make things permanent.” -
