It wasn’t often that Kuya called upon Olivine. The fox liked to be unpredictable, which meant that he scoffed at the idea of prior warning; he much preferred ambushing Olivine in the hallways, or in the streets, or, on one particularly memorable occasion, at the Holy Temple’s pulpit.
Which was to say, when Olivine drew close to Kuya’s house deep in the woods, it was with a deep sense of anticipation, so intense that it felt like it was buzzing beneath his skin. The very invitation was an unspoken promise in and of itself: whatever Kuya had in store required no surprises to buoy it.
