Kyojuro notices the shift in energy first. A subtle darkening like a cloud, a stilling in the bubbling brook. Even the crickets fall silent as if they know a predator is approaching. And then he’s there, arrived with the wind—a silent shadow at the window. Eyes glowing like embers.
“I hope you have no ill intentions tonight,” Kyojuro says, “or I will have to fight you, full strength or not.” Sword or not, too. He’s sure Kochou has some nichirin weapons lying around somewhere, if Akaza would let him get to them first.
“Tch. Like this? I could hold you down with a finger,” Akaza scoffs. “I told you, I have no interest in fighting you right now. If you really want to have a fight with me, you’d let me turn you into a demon.” His voice lowers, becomes almost sultry. “We could have so much fun then, Kyojuro. We could fight forever. You’d be so glorious, I’d be satisfied for eternity just fighting you. I’d never even need to hunt again.”
Right to the point, then, huh. “What did you come here for?” Kyojuro asks bluntly. “Surely not just to flirt with me.”

Summary
Typically, when one hits the tender age of ten their soulmate mark will appear.
Not everyone is blessed with the gift of another half, it’s not uncommon but some do go their entire lives without attaining a mark. For those lucky enough to possess one the ceremony for it was old yet grand— with the rise of the sun on their tenth birthday an image much like a tattoo would begin weaving itself onto a random patch of skin. By the time the sun sets a fully flushed out piece of artwork representing one’s self and their matching pair could be seen somewhere on their body.
Each mark was different in its art style and what was chosen to represent its bearers. Thus making the celebration a whole spectacle intent on finding the matching image.
Now, Kyojuro was a special case.
He never received the traditional tenth birthday feast as he was born already possessing the beginnings of his soulmate mark.

Summary
When a young woman loses their entire family in a demon attack, a leader of the demon slayer corps recognized that there needed to be a safety net. The Ubuyashiki Doves were created to give these women a livelihood for as long as they needed, and most importantly, promise of an arranged marriage at the end of their service to the Master and his family. They are dedicated workers that see to the seamless management of the Ubuyashiki mansion as they all await to restart their lives.
A marriage between an upper ranking demon slayer and a Ubuyashiki Dove hasn't happened in over a century. The practice is all but forgotten until a certain Flame Hashira decides to inquire for a marriage interview with a Dove months after his near death experience on the Mugen Train mission. As word spreads, will some of the other Hashira become interested in the Doves of their choosing?
