‘Yes,' Solas says quietly. 'I believe that everyone on this boat has a secret.'
Felassan raises an eyebrow. ‘Even you?’
Solas looks out across the river, and for a moment he is dizzy with the way the waves beckon him, the little lies they tell in every shift of the tide. He should deny it, but he finds that he cannot.
‘Most especially me,' he says heavily.Solas is a famous detective with a troubled history dating back to the wars that destroyed his homeland. When he embarks on a cruise along the Enavuris River to pursue a lead in his most recent case, he encounters a passionate love triangle which comes to a fatal end.
Complicating the tragedy is the fact that the victim Justinia, heiress to the Chantry fortune, was murdered with Solas’ own gun. And then there’s the problem of his extremely inconvenient attraction to the prime suspect, Jacqueline Lavellan.
As the cruise continues through the wilderness, rapidly approaching the Veil that separates the south of Thedas from the mysterious north, Solas races to uncover the truth before the killer can strike again.

Summary
After a dig site in the Arbor wilds uncovers evidence of the Final Inquisitor, Ellana Lavellan goes back to work at the Thedosian Journal and Professor Solas returns to Lydes to finish his spring semester. When Ellana's article becomes an international sensation, she finds herself constantly on the move, doing her best to juggle travel, writing, and a long-distance flirtation that's slowly taking over her every waking thought.
This is a "midquel" set between the events of Overgrown and Roots. It is best read after completing both of those works.

Summary
Ame'lin Lavellan has never been a typical Dalish woman. Skeptical of the Creators and dissatisfied with her role as a warrior, she sees her people's way of living as hypocritical and lackluster. They deserve better, and she yearns to make a difference.
The world changes when, in a chance encounter, she rescues a weak and malnourished stranger who shares unbelievable stories of ancient Arlathan. After waking from uthenera, Solas' first encounter in this new and terrible world is shaped by the unusual Lavellan and her unexpected kindness. Intrigued by her unconventional views, a year of time spent with her reshapes his plans, though whether that is for the better remains to be seen.
A Solavellan What-If that spans the year prior to Inquisition including the events of The Masked Empire. How might Thedas look different if at least one Dalish woman had believed Solas while questioning his motives from the start?
