    Penelope jumped as the loud voice came into the bedroom, and she pulled the blankets up as Anthony let himself into her bedroom with a clatter of knocking something over. He spotted both of them and sighed. “They’re both here! Thank heavens!”

    Colin was holding on to her like she was being snatched to the Inquisition, and she tugged his hand from her pants where it had slipped lower. “Anthony? How did you get in?”

    El had a key, and Colin had his own, but otherwise she felt like she could get the super to let her in. Penelope sat up, trying to understand this.

    “Benedict? They’re both at Pen’s,” Eloise’s voice said from the living room. She looked into the bedroom door and made a face. “They were asleep. Same bed and too busy to answer frantic calls. No, they look puffy and just woken up. She wasn’t well last night. He’s not an asshole.”

    This was a new and surreal version of a sleepover. Colin dragged himself up to sit next to her, and she leaned into him.

    He sighed. “You’re being terrifying,” he said. “If you were looking for me, but thought I was here, why are you breaking in?”
