"You know, it's okay to want me," Enid says in a tone that's all heat. "Can I tell you something?"
"Will I want to kill you after?"
"I can smell how much you want me. Sometimes I can taste it, before I've even tasted you."
"The answer is yes, then."
"I can hear how fast I make your heart race."
"Enid." Wednesday can hear the wreckage in her own voice. Her head is foggy, dizzy, and she wonders, briefly, if this is what it feels like to swoon. "I've told you to keep your observations to yourself."
"I can see what I do to you now," Enid says. "And I can't wait to feel you."
Enid sets fire to her insides in the greatest crime of arson in history. If nothing else, Wednesday has to admire the artistry of such carnage.

Enid and Wednesday are giving something called dating a try. Though the nature of their relationship changes, Wednesday hadn't anticipated having so many feelings.

Jax kept his eyes on the real prize. A little rag dolly stomping up to him. With brows scrunched and fists bared. Her eyes were angry, cheeks almost flushed as she faced him head on.
“I’m so sick of waking up to what you know is my worst fear! Why can’t you give me a break for one day?!”
There it was. Her persona breaking down around her. Ragatha loved to present herself as a perfect princess, so helpful and kind to everyone. She could never do any wrong!
But Jax? He could break her apart. Light up that fire he knew was just begging to be released. All she needed was a little push. Jax took pride in being the only one to bring it out of Ragatha.

“I want Mira to knot you.”
The spoon in Mira’s hand slipped and clattered against the porcelain bowl. Beside her, Rumi nearly choked on a mouthful of soggy cereal, coughing as her face turned crimson in less than two seconds.
They both stared at Zoey. Rumi’s wide eyes made her look like a startled owl, her cheeks burning. Mira looked a little more composed, but the request had clearly blindsided her too. Neither of them spoke.
Zoey, still focused on shoveling cereal into her mouth, didn’t notice right away. The words had tumbled out between bites, almost like an afterthought. It wasn’t until she felt the silence stretching around her that she paused, spoon halfway to her lips.
“What?” she asked, blinking at them. “Last time I couldn’t get a good look at it.”
A strangled sound escaped Rumi’s throat, her face somehow managing to grow even redder.
