Summary
Komaeda's skin was slick with sweat, mattress soaked where he’d left an ovular imprint. Salt air brushed beneath his nose, lip dripping over something chapped. His mouth was open, panting, a cold sport’s drink in his hands, wrists dangling over the edge of the dock.
Sometimes it feels like his skin weeps for him. Like *that’s* why lymphoma causes the sweats. Almost poetic. His legs shake, the chronic pain ramping, and he breathes the Pacific air through his nose and imagines morphine through an IV drip as he counts down from ten. By the time he realizes the laughter has become crying, he can’t stop. There’s casino music in his head.

Komaeda's been alone so long he forgets what its like to have anyone around to hear him cry.

When he inherited the Worldbearing coreflame, not much had changed for him. Amphoreus is still standing, the war is still going on and they are still fighting for their future but overall it was normal.
