Summary
The moment Jamie punches his dad, he knows this isn't over. Knows his dad can't let this slide. He doesn't expect anything less than retribution when he goes home.
Roy realizes in a split second that Jamie is made up of a thousand tiny instances that Roy has never witnessed. And he's not the selfish prick that Roy painted him out to be.
"Things start to improve. It’s a slow gradual pace, but it’s better than nothing, and Roy stops ignoring him. Ted still keeps on with his eternal cheeriness and his team starts inviting him places again. He goes to the pub with Isaac and Dani and the black hole feels a little smaller that night. And he thinks he can survive like this.
He’s learned his lesson this time, he really has. He’s not going to push for more than he deserves and he’s not going to pretend he deserves the same love that the rest of the team does. He so thoroughly burned that bridge it’s nothing but ashes. You can’t build shit out of ashes."

Summary
Dani is his replacement, and Dani is good, even if Jamie will never fucking admit that out loud as long as he lives, and Dani cheers loud for his teammates when they score, leaps on their backs and races around the pitch chanting his own name. Fucking chipper dickhead. He scores off a pass from Sam and the others flock around him, cheering, hands all reaching out to ruffle his hair and wrap at his shoulders. Even fucking Roy, who scowls at Jamie like it’s his fault he’s fucking ancient and broken down every time he so much as touches the ball. But Dani scores and Roy says, “Well fucking done, Rojas!” And then he lifts his head and he meets Jamie’s eyes, stood alone across the pitch with ice in his stomach.
Or: in which Dani's knee injury heals a bit earlier than it does in canon, and Jamie does not handle it well.

Summary
The day before the season 1 charity gala, Ted invites a representative from a domestic violence charity to speak to the team, figuring it will be a good educational experience for the boys. Instead, it cracks open some barely-healed wounds for Jamie and Roy both.

Summary
“Whatcha thinking about?”
Jamie asks the question as he sits down, handing Roy a third beer, another held loosely in his other hand.
What is Roy thinking?
He thinks Jamie looks fucking picturesque, sitting there at the table on their patio, overlooking the ocean, backlit by fading sun’s light. The breeze rustles Jamie’s Walnut fucking Mist hair, his more-than-half-opened shirt. He looks relaxed and happy, sipping from his beer. The sight of it makes Roy so fucking hungry for something he doesn’t even have the words to name.
Roy looks away, gazes out at the push-and-pull of the waves instead.
After taking a long swallow from his drink, he finally answers Jamie.
“Football,” he lifts a brow, as if to say, ‘what else?’
__
Or, Roy and Jamie go to Brazil and Roy learns to let himself want.

Summary
Healy rolls his eyes magnificently. He releases one of March’s ankles to massage his forehead like he’s staving off a migraine. “Jesus, what do you think this is, some kind of shitty porno? I’m trying to have a professional conversation, and you’re over here presenting to me! In heat!”
“What the fuck are you talking about, man,” March squawks. “I’m not in heat. This is self-defense! I’m defending myself!”
