Summary
“Heads up, someone’s coming down from pedes to take a look at our baby Jane Doe.” Dana says, phone tucked between her ear and shoulder. Robby feels his entire body stiffen.
“Oh?” He says, trying to go for casual as he leans up against the desk. He looks up at the glowing board above the two of them, scanning for his patients. “Do we know who?”
Dana levels a look at him as she hangs up the phone, a smile tugging at the corners of her lips.
“The one and only.” She glances over at the black thermos sitting innocently next to them, a bright yellow sticker faded with some age, corners curling, with bold letters saying ‘good job’.
“Ah. Right.”

Summary
It’s been seven years. Seven years since the last time he’d spoken to his parents. The number had been echoing in his mind all morning, ticking on like a stopwatch timer he never asked for.
He still texted his brothers every now and then. Small talk, obligatory check-ins, but none of it touched the dented, rusted spaces where real family had once fit. They would be better labeled as acquaintances than family members. Essentially just strangers with shared childhood memories.
Dennis told himself he was fine with that. That he didn’t need anything from them anymore, but the anniversary had a way of peeling open old wounds he usually kept duct-taped shut.
-- -- -- --
Or, Dennis was only born to donate parts of himself to his older brother with cancer. How will Dennis react when a similar situation walks into the Pitt? How will Robby react when he finds Dennis having his own breakdown in Peds?

Summary
Three months after Robby Robinavitch’s sudden disappearance, life at The Pitt has reshaped itself into something functional but hollow. Whitaker has become a master of management, surviving each shift by muscle memory. The ER breathes. The others move forward. Dana covers for him. Langdon doesn’t mention Robby. Cassie tiptoes around the absences. Jack watches too much.
Whitaker floats through a twelve hour shift in winter light, emotionally sedated. Until the doors slide open just before midnight and Robby Robinavitch returns. No warning. No explanation.Bookmarked by LOUSTATHEREAL
