A muffled shout fills her with dread, her stomach dropping with the sound of a thud that followed. Both noises come from down the hall in her parents bedroom, and fear grips tightly at her throat for a second and a half before she slips a hand under her pillow to curl around the hilt of the dagger hidden there.
She had always been taught that it was wise to have a weapon sharper than the points of her ears in a land ruled by Crows. That the world was not always kind to those like her.

It's a simple comment, one that shouldn't shake her, and yet she's still thinking about it by the time they approach the Diamond. The comforting sound of crows cawing overhead, the ever present whirr of the zipline fading behind her as they make their way from the terrace to the stairs. She takes them two at a time, past the statue she'd climbed plenty, foliage and thorns wound tightly around it - they had grown since the last time she'd been here.

She rolls her eyes at the pointed tone, glancing around the hall instead of answering, her amused smile widening when she sees Illario slip out of the server’s entrance, heading straight for the exit without a word to anyone.
“Is that Illario leaving?” Viago turns his focus in the direction both women were looking at Teia’s question before humming disinterested. “Where’s he off to in such a hurry?”
“A private bathroom, I would wager.”
Teia and Viago both immediately turn to Lilya as she sips the stolen wine, and she doesn’t turn to face them until the door closes behind Illario. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

Or, Viago knows better than to let Lilya out of his sight but arguing against her and Teia is pointless (he was right)
Illario's certain he can hook-up with the pretty elf standing beside Viago (he was wrong)
Lilya is bored and if she can't poison Viago and she has to suffer through Illario's flirting she's going to make the most of it (she thinks it's hilarious)Series
