When Legundo died, he didn’t know what to expect. He had been taught tales of heaven and hell; damnation and salvation, but he had always waved them away. Denounced them as stories that were only used by the powerful to manipulate the weak. It was only one story amongst thousands, anyway.

Summary
By all accounts and purposes, Jack von Pyroscythe should be dead. They actually remember what happened very clearly- odd considering their previous experience with death and everything that followed. True, permanent death is hard for a vampire, but Shelby seemed to have found it relatively easy considering the stake that went through Pyro's chest.
And yet, here they are. Dirt under their nails, bloodied, and waiting on a carriage with Abolish Veylocke by his side.

Summary
There’s a moment where the stillness creeps in around them, threatening to strangle Pyro until Abolish breaks it. “What’s your favorite color?”
“Green,” he answers quickly, grateful for the distraction, “Yours?”
Red, he knows before Abolish even opens his mouth, because he’s memorized everything he possibly could about the man next to him, down to the way his breathing fills the space and the slope of his shoulder inches from Pyro’s own.
The next question is unexpected, a fast switch up from casual to serious and said with no small amount of hesitation. "Do you trust me?"
Pyro doesn't even have to think before he says, "Yes."or: abolish and pyro are both trying to leave behind their pasts when they meet, fall in love, and help each other out with a few things. not necessarily in that order
