Summary
Corvo still has fear, but it is not for his own life - it is for Emily’s. If he knew without doubt that the assassin had killed Emily as well, his daughter, his own flesh and blood, he would have begged for death or constructed a more robust plan to get to Burrows or Campbell or Sullivan and kill them, damned be the consequences. But that sliver of hope, the dark shadow of ‘what if’ preserves him, for better or for worse. Somewhere deep in his bones and his guts, he knows he must survive.
-----
A short, angsty fic looking at Corvo's mental state during the events of Dishonored 1.

Summary
Dunwall, Month of Songs, 1852. The Abbey of the Everyman’s hostile takeover has led to ruin, death and destruction in the seat of the Empire. Corvo Attano sits on the Imperial throne as a puppet, threatened by the loss of those he holds most dear. The man who trusted him most, Garrett, languishes in prison because of his mistakes. Still reeling from the past week’s events at Hallewell manor, Corvo must work with his few remaining allies to regain his power, his authority, and his ability to hit back.
Most importantly of all, he needs to find a way to keep Garrett, the man he was supposed to protect, from harm. The problem is, knowing the happenings of the prisons is difficult when those who control him are selective with the information they give him.

Word of a party where only the richest and most influential have been invited is enticing for Garrett - drunk men aren't as careful to protect their valuables from skilled larceners - but a chore for Corvo, and their shared fate forces them to face their demons from the past.

[ Part of the modern Brit AU for Thief and Dishonored ]
Basso wishes he never took Garrett on this job. He wishes he never taught Garrett how to drive. Sometimes, he wishes Garrett would be less reckless but then again, his speed has saved their arses more than once, and although he'd never admit it, he wouldn’t change Garrett for the world.
Birmingham, UK, January 2019.
Garrett, 22, is a petty criminal, hacker, and on the wrong side of the law. Basso, 32, is a fence of stolen goods, safecracker, tattoo artist, and adoptive big brother of Garrett. Together they work to rob businesses of their expensive goodies and sell them off for cash. But even the best criminals can't be perfect. When the police are called on them during a job, they have to make a quick getaway. Even the most rigorous of plans have weaknesses, and Garrett finds this all too clear while escaping with Basso. -

One thing that Garrett is never quite sure of is how he always seems to find himself in these positions. He’s not sure how Corvo convinced him to go for a drink with him at the Siren’s Rest, and he’s not sure how he managed to get Basso to come along either, but most of all, he’s not sure how these plans came about in the first place.
Corvo covinces Garrett to come for a drink with him and things get a bit out of hand.

Summary
Corvo finds him half-sitting, half-kneeling in the muck and filth somewhere in Baron’s Way South. It’s a quiet corner, the refuge of drunks and ladies of the night: secluded, dark, stinking of piss and vomit, but in front of Garrett’s hunched silhouette there lays another pale figure half-shrouded in moonlight, his mouth slightly agape, eyes wide, limbs collapsed limp and broken to his sides. There is a deep red gash somewhere near his neck, and a huge quantity of blood is pooled beneath his otherwise-pristine body.
It is clear now that the Watchman is dead. And there is nothing that Garrett or Corvo can do for him.
