Summary
Anathema Device is trying to pull her life together and it isn't entirely working. She probably shouldn't have come to Tracy's get-together. She definitely shouldn't have tried to find out more about the peculiar book thieves—or, at least, she should have chosen a different way to do it.
It is not necessary to read "Damaged" to understand this story, but they are thematically related, with the emphasis being on how the various characters are messed up by their background.

It started with a small sillypost on tumblr, then I saw the very cool front covers of 'Vecna: Eve Of Ruin' and 'Quests From The Infinite Staircase' in my local gaming store, my brain went, "WOOHOO! NEW INTEREST UNLOCKED!", I started reading up on 5e mechanics and stuff, and, well... This fic happened! Thinking about how the Ineffable Husbands might work in D&D terms, and what their backstories might be, was extremely fun; I'm not completely sure where the butterfly stuff came from, but I can't deny that it works very well with the leaning into my autistic!Aziraphale headcanon :) If I had to sum up the theme of this fic in a sentence, it'd be: "Underestimating Aziraphale is a f---ing terrible idea!" -- true both here and in canon >:D
I've included statblocks for the D&D!Ineffables in addition to their stories; if you want to stick them into your campaign, feel free to use the stats as they are or tweak them as necessary to fit your table's needs -- and definitely let me know if you use 'em, I'd love to hear how it goes!

Aziraphale, guardian of Atlas, stares down at the weary traveler. The first of his visitors in centuries. He takes a shaky, sympathetic breath.
"Me."
Crowley’s “Hero’s Journey” ends at The Wall at the End of the World, where he meets the guardian of The Wall, Aziraphale. The guardian offers to grant him a wish.
Tired and beaten, Crowley wishes for comfort. A house that provides and a partner to share it with.
When the wish is granted, neither had expected for the partner to be Aziraphale.

Summary
Aziraphale is reasonably content with his life right now. He does what he loves, he’s free to make his own choices and fate isn’t throwing roadblocks on his path any more.
All of a sudden, he gets an unusual surprise. He starts having vivid dreams, all revolving around his cottage in a sleepy little hamlet in the South Downs. The dreams then start getting a visitor – a truly invigorating figure with long red hair and stunning eyes who seems determined to have the Alpha come pay a visit to his country house.
Dreams are just dreams, Aziraphale knows, but despite himself, he is getting intrigued.
This is the story of what the Alpha finds in his South Downs’ home.

Aziraphale can't pretend he's not a little nervous. He hasn't seriously fought for millennia, and has rarely picked up a human weapon as anything but a bit of a show, or for appearances' sake. The one time he'd wrestled he'd had to hold back considerably for the poor man putting his all into it. Which of course wouldn't be quite as necessary with Crowley.
