    Summary

"He was good at what he did, and it made him happy to help Sebastian. To feel useful, to be something to someone again. When his art failed him, when every stroke felt shaky and every colour clashed, he knew the hybrid was only a call away.

When every choice felt like a mistake, when he couldn’t stand the sight of the colour red, when he felt like he was but one more kill away from shattering, he knew Sebastian would be there to pick up his pieces.

(When he wanted to scream and cry despite his lack of tearducts because he couldn’t remember, he couldn’t fucking remember please no please they already took him away why would they do that why why why-)"

Or; the events of chapter 4 of my other work, Adonis Divine, from the perspective of Painter.

    Summary

You never, never wanted to be on dayshift. All those children running around, being loud and messy and eugh... but that's what corporate scheduled you for, and they're the ones that write your checks, so. You weren't expecting to get along with the daycare attendant, but that doesn't mean you want to stay on dayshift just to hang out with them.

Too bad you can't back out now.

    Summary

You are not strong in the Sight. To you, the supernatural has become the background noise of a mundane and lonely life. You have no interest in becoming involved with ghosts.

But they have every interest in you.

When your eccentric great uncle offers you a job fixing the ‘jewel’ of his collection—the original Fazco Daycare Attendant—you expect a challenge, sure. This was undoubtedly going to be the biggest project of your life. You expect pain, mistakes, and late nights aplenty, and you expect an excruciating learning curve.

You do not expect the other Daycare Attendants.

You return with a steeled one of your own. "You can't get rid of me that easily."

Red pupils against black eyes drfit to the bandage on your forehead, and you swallow as Moon's gaze lingers in the silence too long to be comfortable.

"I can, though." Moon's form is unnaturally still, zeroed in on your expression, reading your face, reading your body language. "I can."

    Summary

Most humans are largely the same. That's what Sans thinks, after living on the surface with them for a couple years now. Not in a bad way, necessarily. It’s just that there’s so many of them that there isn’t much room for any of them to stand out.

    Then he meets you.

It was never Sans’s plan to fall in love with a reckless, impulsive, indisputably messed up human, but hey, the heart wants what it wants. What he didn’t count on, however, is said human climbing through his window one night and recruiting him for a six-hour escapade all across town, and then an equally adventurous road trip out-of-country. Sans has never exactly been one for grand gestures, but all of a sudden his life seems to be full of them - and he doesn't mind as much as he thought he would.
