Summary
She hated the feeling of being helpless and needy. Maybe even hated admitting that she had needs. The idea of baring them to someone, even someone she loved, put her on edge. She knew that Jack was offering to take care of her, but she also knew even he had his limits.
As Samira stewed on it, she didn't see the harm in pushing those limits a little. If Jack was going to send her home from work because she was too sick to help other people, then perhaps she'd show him what being too sick to help herself would look like.

Summary
“Don’t be mad at her, I can be very persuasive.” Jack is concerned when Samira looks at him flirtatiously as she says this. He’s very familiar with her skills of persuasion she’s alluding to, but she never flirts with him at work. The playfulness falls from her expression when she notices Jack pushing the wheelchair. “Oh, absolutely not.”
Or, Jack and Samira have their walls up

Summary
Samira is used to liars. . .
Samira Mohan is a liar, too. She is in love with Jack Abbot, and that is a silent truth, never given life even in the sanctity of her home. It is a lie by omission, but one she carries with her everyday.

Summary
In all her daydreams and girlish fantasies where Samira imagined the first time Jack Abbot put his hands on her, it wasn’t like this. In none of those scenarios was she delirious from fever, incubating a double infection of influenza and strep, and in need of hospitalization.
