Summary
Bill was saying something to Eddie, something about checking them in at the front desk, and then his hand was slowly leaving the small of Eddie's back. He wanted to reply to Bill somehow but he couldn't find the words. His head felt full of static, his whole body tense with adrenaline. He could hardly even focus on the anxiety, not when his whole arm was engulfed in searing pain; he was about to follow Bill over to the receptionist when a voice cut through the haze of pain and panic:
“Holy shit – Eddie?!” the voice said, which was impossible, because Eddie knew that voice, could never forget that voice, no matter how many years had gone by, he could never – “Is that Eddie fucking Kaspbrak?”
He spun on his heel, broken arm clutched miserably to his chest, just to make sure he wasn’t hearing things.
He wasn’t. Standing there, beneath the fluorescent lighting of the E.R. waiting room, face lit up with a smile exactly like the one Eddie always remembered him having, was none other than Richie fucking Tozier.
--
In which Eddie Kaspbrak reunites with his childhood best friend, goes to therapy, and learns a whole lot about horseshoe crabs – (mostly) in that order.

Summary
With a flick of her wrist she sets the windshield wipers to a slower speed; the rain is starting to let up, less of a torrent and more of a drizzle. Jennifer doesn’t look at Leon as she asks, “Why didn’t you tell Beau where we’re going? For real?”
A pregnant pause follows her question; Leon’s voice is flat, but she can see him still smiling out of the corner of her eye as he answers, “I don’t want anyone but you to know I’m leaving.”
“What about your family?”
His arms tighten around the backpack in his lap. “I kind of want them to think I’m dead,” he says, and he sounds so casual even as his words are so morose, it makes Jennifer double-take.
“Wow, you’re a piece of shit,” she says without thinking, and then she barks out a laugh.

Summary
Pride refused to reply for a moment, taking a long swig of his drink instead. Envy didn’t seem to be in a rush, however, just took another hit off of xer spliff and let the smoke unfurl from xer lips as Pride tried to think of something he could say that would make Envy drop the subject. “Well, I did just get kidnapped, like, not even a month ago,” he settled on saying, “So forgive me! If I’m not in the best mood. I don’t see why it’s any of your business.”
“Because we’re friends,” Envy said without hesitation, and Pride couldn’t hide his wince; despite their squabbles in the past, Envy had always looked out for him, and here he was, acting like a child. “And because you only get this squirrelly about your problems when they’re really bothering you, ‘cause otherwise you would have told everyone and their mother what was wrong, like, five seconds after we got you back to the hideout.”
Pride scrubbed one hand roughly over his face as his vision started to blur. It made him feel pathetic. “I’m sorry," He blurted out, "You’re right.”

Summary
There was a beat as Ms. Quirke seemed to consider something very carefully, her eyes flickering between Gordy and Serena – who both looked varying degrees of exasperated and pissed off – and Leon. “That’s… sort of it,” as she spoke, she stared into the middle distance between them, like she wasn’t sure who she should be addressing, “A metaphor is a figure of speech, used in a single phrase to compare two seemingly unrelated things to convey a certain image or idea. An allegory, on the other hand, is when the entire narrative uses its characters and events to symbolize something else entirely, usually to teach a lesson. Do you remember what Animal Farm is an allegory for?”
No, Leon thought to himself, right as Gordy chimed in, “Communist Russia.”
“Exactly!” Ms. Quirke said, her bright smile right back in place; she wasn’t looking at Leon at all now, instead focusing her attention entirely on his two classmates.

Summary
"You're thinking too much about what you want," Greed said, barely managing to stifle a sigh; the book lay forgotten in their folded-up lap, "You want Lust to stop being mad at you. That's not going to happen if you don't consider what he wants."
Pride crossed his arms in an attempt to hide his hurt feelings - he had thought this was a good plan, but the look on Greed's face said otherwise - and huffed, "All Lust wants is for me to like him, though."
From her place in bed, Wrath groaned, a low and deeply frustrated sound, and pulled the blankets up to cover her ears as if to block Pride out entirely, "Make him stop. Every word out of his mouth makes me want to throw him down the stairs."

with a little help from his friends, prides plan to make things up to lust goes surprisingly well.

Summary
Tryst was like if you took all of Leenik’s worst impulses and made them hot. Only in Tryst they didn’t feel—dangerous. Or they did, but the good kind of dangerous, not the unbalanced, fragile kind. In Tryst they were the kind of dangerous that made you fun at parties, rather than the kind that got you psychiatric screenings. Tryst took the spikes out of Leenik’s free-falling self-destruction and made him think—infectious and certain—that he was going to land safely before before he leapt.
He was usually wrong. Which was how they ended up back at the Bluebird, at 8 am, two hours into Leenik’s shift, slumped into a booth. Leenik was tipped forward with his head on the table. Bacta’s head was on his knee, the rest of him splayed across the bench. He felt kind of weird about that—not Bacta in his space, he’d had that for five years easy as breathing. It was the six months that he hadn’t that was making it weird.
