Gi-hun squeezes his eyes shut. His face is burning.
“Stop saying shit like that in my ear—!”
It starts with a late-night argument, married couple Seong Gi-hun and Hwang In-ho quietly work through their frustrations—between cigarette smoke, quiet apologies. Eventually, the next morning, things always get better. It’s about staying, even when things get messy.

His other hand snakes forward to land on Gi-hun’s hip, fingertips digging into the skin, and pulls him forward until he is straddling the thick swell of Young-il’s thigh. “I won’t let anyone kill you.” The words are a furious whisper, a promise, a threat. And they send Gi-hun’s heart racing from the passion lacing through them. “Not the guards, not the other players, not even yourself.”
